CAN YOU USE HONEY AS A HOME REMEDY TO TREAT ACNE?
Honey is often touted as an effective remedy for sore throat, cold or cough. But did you know that it can also be used to treat acne? It contains natural antibacterial properties that make it suitable to soothe inflamed 皮肤 and acne. It is full of antioxidants, vitamin B and other minerals which can reduce the redness on your skin.
However, honey isn’t an all magical ingredient that can cure your acne and prevent future ones from popping up. You still need to see a dermatologist and get your acne medically treated especially if your acne is serious. But if you have one acne that suddenly popped up and need a quick fix, honey is the home remedy you can quickly reach for to reduce the inflammation.
Does that mean that any honey works?
Unfortunately, no. You should be using honey which is labelled as one of the following:
-
- Raw
- Natural
- Unprocessed
- Unheated
For honey to be effective for treating acne, you should only use honey with these labels as those honey which are treated loses its antibacterial properties, making them ineffective.

2. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil has been well known to treat pimples as well as any open wounds due to its antibacterial properties. Though it does not act as quickly as compared to benzoyl peroxide that can be found in more pimple or acne treatment cream, it can clear up the skin with regular and long usage. Due to its potency, for people with sensitive skin, it is best to dilute it before applying it directly on the acne.
